From standard to special solutions: standard wire-ropes in accordance with DIN EN 12385 and special wire-ropes
Dolezych offers steel wire-rope by the meter in accordance with DIN EN 12385. The special wire-ropes complement the portfolio of standard ropes and are designed for special applications, e.g. for multi-layer spooling in crane rope operation or applications in the forestry sector/operation.
Standard solutions from Dolezych: Standard steel wire-ropes according to DIN EN 12385
Dolezych's DoDraround strand ropes with fibre or steel core in the standard 6x7, 6x19 or 6x37 construction types are generally galvanized and are characterized by high flexibility and elongation. The ropes are also low-twist and low-tension. This means that the strands do not, or only slightly, come out of the rope after the binding has been removed.
You can also buy standard wire-ropes from Dolezych in the Warrington-Seale types 6x36, 8x19 or 8x36. These ropes are usually considered for use as a running rope in a bare or galvanized version.
Sealing type: With sealing strands, two layers of the same number of wires are laid helically around a core wire. In contrast to other parallel lay strands, the outer wires of sealed strands are generally significantly thicker than the inner wires.
Filler construction: In the filler construction, thinner wires are placed in the “valleys” of the first layer of wires. The second layer of filler strands consists of twice as many wires as the first layer.
Warrington construction: In the Warrington construction, a certain type of wire lies in the first layer around a core wire and the same number of thicker wires lie in the valleys of the first layer in a second layer. In addition, there are further, significantly thinner outer wires on the crests of the first layer, which together with the thicker outer wires form the same outer diameter.
Special solutions from Dolezych: special wire-ropes for your application
If you want to buy wire-ropes for your business, a standard rope may not be sufficient for your application. Special wire-ropes offer the optimum solution for every application. Dolezych offers rotation-resistant and low-tension special types that extend the service life of the rope. This longer service life also reduces installation times (calculated over the service life of a system).
You can find an overview of rotation-resistant and low-tension special rope types in our bestseller catalog (Link).
Rotation-free special wire-ropes: Rotation-free special wire-ropes from the DoCasar, DoDiepa or DoRope product line are flexible hoist ropes with a steel core that do not rotate on themselves even when subjected to high tensile forces. They are intensively lubricated and are characterized by a high breaking strength. The specially designed steel core prevents crossovers between the steel core strands and the risk of damage inside the rope. Due to this excellent durability, DoCasar Starlift ropes for single layer spooling and DoCasar Eurolift ropes for multi-layer spooling are used worldwide.
Low-tension special wire-ropes with plastic-coated steel core: These special wire-ropes from the DoCasar, DoRope and DoDiepa product ranges are characterized by a plastic intermediate layer. It is now being used more and more in special ropes as it offers a number of advantages:
- Very smooth running
- No contact between the core and outer strands
- Reduced cage formation (the “sticking out” of strands)
- The plastic layer serves as a lubricant substitute
- Corrosion protection of the steel core
- Greater stability during installation
The special wire-ropes with plastic core are available in compacted and non-compacted versions. Uncompressed ropes correspond to the conventional production of ropes. In the case of compaction, the strands and possibly the finished rope or only the finished rope are then plastically compressed using special tools. This creates an almost smooth surface. The advantages of compaction are:
- A higher breaking load by increasing the metallic cross-section (fill factor)
- A longer service life due to less wear on the sheaves and crane rope
- Less diameter loss under tension
- Larger contact surface on the sheaves due to the smoother surface
- Ideal for use in application profiles with the highest demands on the rope as a functional element, e.g. in container cranes and gantry and overhead cranes
Compacted forestry ropes from Dolezych
The compacted DoForst ropes are an optimized rope construction for the forestry industry. Special rope compaction techniques enable even higher metallic cross-sections and therefore also higher breaking forces. The strand compaction at the end of the production process produces a smoother rope surface and therefore a longer rope service life for your ropes.
Note: Compacted forestry ropes are generally 6-strand standard rope constructions without a plastic intermediate layer (in contrast to 8-strand special wire-ropes).
Stainless steel wire-ropes from Dolezych
DoVier stainless steel wire-ropes are suitable for use where rust must not occur (e.g. in the maritime and food sectors). In addition to their corrosion resistance, the ropes are very robust and are characterized by good forming properties. Stainless steel is a perfect solution, especially if you are faced with design tasks involving steel wire-ropes. We present further stainless steel rope solutions in the stainless steel fine ropes (Link) and architectural ropes (Link) section.
Coated steel wire-ropes from Dolezych: galvanized and stainless steel
If the galvanized wire surface of the ropes needs additional protection against corrosion or if the metallic surface of the ropes can affect the running time of your system, you can choose a plastic coating. All sheaths also reduce abrasion, dampen noise and improve running smoothness. Caution: Only very few sheaths are suitable for temporary, limited use as a running rope.
Important: If aesthetic aspects are a priority for you, you can ask us about other sheath colors. Special and different sheath colors are possible for special purposes. For special solutions, our team will be happy to advise you either by telephone on 0049 231 82 85 0 or by E-Mail at info@dolezych.de.
