DoLex Edge Protection Angle for Chains and Ropes – your reliable edge protector

The DoLex edge protection angle for chains and ropes reliably distributes point loads and ensures that both cargo and lashing equipment remain protected. You rely on a robust PU component that supports daily use in industrial environments. It is ideal when you need additional effective chain edge protection during transport.

The DoLex edge protection angle protects both chains and ropes and ensures even support at the contact surface thanks to its PU material structure. The 80 mm leg length and 30 mm rounded diameter provide a stable surface. The angle is perfectly suited for chain diameters between 6 and 8 mm and offers easy handling in daily work routines with a weight of approx. 0.30 kg. Its hardness of around 80 Shore A ensures that the angle reliably retains its shape and reduces load marks.

Use this edge protection angle whenever you need to protect sensitive loads or surfaces—while also preventing your chains from abrasion and pressure points. Point loads are significantly reduced because the force is distributed across a wider area.
Please note: This edge protection angle is not suitable for sharp edges.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the edge protection angle support my chain during use?
It distributes the load evenly across the contact surface, preventing concentrated pressure that could damage chain links.

Can I use the edge protection angle with ropes as well?
Yes, it is suitable for both fibre and steel ropes within the same diameter range.

Is the edge protection angle suitable for sharp-edged metal plates?
No, the PU angle is not designed for sharp edges. Steel edge protectors or alternative protection systems are recommended for these applications.

Edge and Corner Protectors

Edge protectors are designed to protect lashing straps and the load during transport. To ensure safe use, the following instructions should be observed:

  1. Application and Compatibility
    • Use edge protectors only for their intended purpose.
    • Check compatibility with the lashing straps being used.
  2. Before Use
    • Inspect the edge protector for visible damage, cracks or deformation. Damaged edge protectors must not be used.
    • Ensure that the edge protector is securely positioned on the edge of the load and cannot slip during use.
  3. Correct Positioning
    • The edge protector must completely cover the edge requiring protection.
    • Ensure that the lashing strap passes correctly through the designated guide of the edge protector (e.g. threading slot).
  4. Use Under Different Conditions
    • When used in extreme temperatures, humid environments or when exposed to chemicals, ensure that the selected edge protector is suitable for these conditions.
    • Carry out a visual inspection before and after each use, particularly after intensive use or contact with aggressive substances.
  5. Storage
    • Store edge protectors in a dry and clean environment, protected from UV radiation and extreme temperatures, to preserve the service life of the material.
    • Do not store edge protectors under heavy loads or in a deformed condition.
