Lifting-slings are indispensable aids in production, transportation and warehousing. They are used for lifting, moving and positioning loads. The textile material puts as little strain as possible on sensitive load surfaces. With wide contact surfaces, the lifting-slings achieve high load-bearing capacities so that even heavy loads can be lifted gently. Lifting-slings are intended for general lifting operations, among other things. They can be used to lift objects, materials or freight that do not require any deviations from the specified requirements, safety factors or load capacities. Lifting slings, on the other hand, are not suitable for lifting people and hazardous materials (such as molten metal and acids, glass plates, fissile materials). Lifting slings are often also referred to as crane slings.

Lifting slings and round slings are both textile slings. However, they differ in a few key respects.
The most obvious is probably the different shape: Lifting slings are flat and made of woven webbing. They have two loops (which can be reinforced), a shackle at both ends or a combination of both. Endless webbing slings are also lifting slings, are made of webbing and are endless. Round slings can be recognized by the fact that they consist of a round sling tube (sheath) and a yarn insert. They are therefore endless.
Lifting slings are manufactured in accordance with the DIN EN 1492-1 standard:
- Made of polyester (PES)
- Made of aramid
- Made of UHMW-PE
Round slings are manufactured in accordance with the DIN EN 1492-2 standard:
- Made of polyester (PES)
- Made from high-performance UHMW-PE fibers, e.g. Dyneema®
You can find the following special shapes in our store:
- Disposable lifting slings according to DIN 60005
Advantages of textile lifting-slings
Textile lifting-slings offer a number of advantages over other lifting gear such as chain slings or lifting ropes:
- High load-bearing capacity with low dead weight: Textile lifting slings are very light and yet have a high load-bearing capacity. This makes them particularly flexible and easy to handle.
- No electrical conductivity: Textile lifting-slings are not electrically conductive (provided they do not get wet). You can also use them in potentially explosive areas.
- Gentle on the load: Textile lifting-slings are soft and protect your load from damage.
Lifting-slings: materials for different requirements
In our online store, you can order lifting slings made of different materials so that you can use the ideal sling for every purpose:
- Polyester (PES) is a very hard-wearing and durable material. It is also resistant to chemicals and weather conditions.
- Aramid consists of synthetic high-performance fibres that are characterized by their heat resistance and strength.
- UHMW-PE (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene) is characterized by maximum strength and low weight and is particularly resistant to abrasion, moisture, UV and chemicals.
When selecting the material, you should also consider the different operating temperatures.
We are happy to advise you on when you should use which material.
What else you need to know when choosing your lifting-slings
Woven lifting-slings:
- Must be optimally matched in width to the practical requirements.
- Can be sewn in 1, 2 or 4 layers to increase the load capacity with the same belt width.
- With the same load-bearing capacity, narrow lifting-slings are usually thicker than wider ones.
- As the belt thickness decreases, the edge stability and lateral stiffness naturally also decrease. This effect is reversed with increasing thickness.
- Narrower slings are advantageous for diagonal pulls due to their compact design and can therefore also be used well for lacing.
Lifting-slings and the meaning of the color codes
Dolezych lifting-slings are colored according to DIN EN 1492 according to their load capacity (single, direct):
- 1,000 kg: Purple
- 2,000 kg: Green
- 3,000 kg: Yellow
- 4,000 kg: Gray
- 5,000 kg: Red
- 6,000 kg: Brown
- 8,000 kg: Blue
- From 10,000 kg: Orange
DoFix - the rigid loop
Due to their soft fabric structure and loop shape, lifting-sling loops bend easily, which can interfere when hooking into the load hook or when passing under the load. Dolezych also manufactures lifting-slings with a "rigid" loop with a steel insert that does not kink but can be slid under loads to make it easier for you to slide the lifting-sling under loads.
We also manufacture lifting-sling loops in special dimensions and special reinforcements, tailored to your crane hook.
More safety through individual labeling
At Dolezych, you can buy individually marked lifting slings and round slings, for example lifting slings 1 t, lifting slings 2 t and lifting slings 5 t.
This allows you to work even more safely with these slings.
- DoMark is an easily recognizable and clear load capacity marking for each crane sling (e.g. WLL 30,000 kg)
- DoDate is an additional label that permanently contains the product-related data even when exposed to high temperatures (up to approx. 90 °C)
- DoIdent is an additional production coding that you can use as an additional marking option
