Simply work safely: What you need to consider when working with PPE
Personal protective equipment against falls from a height (PPE) protects you against hazards on site. It is mandatory in industry from a working height of 1 m. The PPE must protect you against hazards, but must not cause any danger itself. It is important that...
- the PPE equipment is suitable for your specific application on site.
- every person in your team who requires a safety harness must also use their own harness.
- you store the PPE properly (clean, dry and protected from sunlight).
- you do not use aggressive cleaning agents to clean the PPE.
- you only continue to use PPE that has been damaged or stressed by a fall after it has been inspected and approved by an expert.
The right PPE: what you need to know to select your protective equipment
In order to protect yourself from hazards, a risk assessment must be carried out in your company/at your workplace - by the company safety officer and, if necessary, by external consultants. After the risk assessment, you can select products based on the approval criteria, labeling and instructions for use. You must take into account the desired radius of action, the user weight and the fall height/distance.
Labelling of PPE: you should look out for these features when buying
All components of your PPE must contain the following information:
- Name, mark or other markings of the manufacturer or supplier
- Year of manufacture
- Type designation
- Serial or manufacturer number
- CE marking
Good to know: Standards for personal protective equipment in the European Union and in Germany
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG)
- PPE Usage Ordinance (PSA-BV)
- Technical rules for workplaces (ASR A2.1)
- PPE DGUV regulations

From nets to mobile anchor points: The PPE range from Dolezych
You can buy the following PPE equipment from the Dolezych range:
Nets: There are various types of PPE nets. Safety nets protect you in the event of a fall and from falling objects such as tools. Dolezych safety nets are made of high-strength polypropylene and are therefore not only very safe, but also ensure a soft fall. Side protection nets secure construction workers on scaffolding and also provide protection against falling objects. If you come from the logistics sector, you will need pallet rack safety nets to secure your racking systems that are only loaded and unloaded from one side.
Safety harnesses: PPE safety harnesses made from high-quality webbing securely and ergonomically surround your body to catch you in an emergency.
Lanyards: Lanyards with an integrated energy absorber connect the harness to an anchor point on a fall arrest system.
Mobile anchor points: An anchor point is not always available. Where there is none, you can attach mobile anchor points. This gives you the flexibility to secure exactly where you need to.
PPE sets: The Dolezych PPE sets for different areas of application include sets with harnesses and accessories and tripod sets - there is the right complete solution for every area of application.
Simply stay safe: PPE inspection by Dolezych
You must visually inspect the PPE before each use to ensure that it is in perfect condition. You can have the PPE and the fixed guides (e.g. rails, ropes) of arrester systems inspected by an expert as required, but at least once a year (in accordance with PPE DGUV Rule 112-198). Damaged parts of the PPE should be replaced directly with original spare parts from the manufacturer.
