More possibilities in practice: What VDI 2700 Part 2.1 delivers

With the newly published VDI 2700 Part 2.1, the calculation of load securing forces has been expanded to include two special cases that were previously unregulated. This provides clear guidelines for situations that have long occurred in practice.

Direct lashing with more than two lashing devices per securing direction
If more than two lashing devices are used per direction in direct lashing, the forces are not distributed evenly. Until now, there was no clear calculation basis for this. The guideline now takes into account different lengths and elongation properties of the lashing devices and enables calculation of the load mass that can actually be secured.

Top-over lashing of overhanging loads
If the load extends beyond the loading area to the side, the lashing device is guided over additional edges. As a result, less securing force reaches the load than with top-over lashing over only two edges. Depending on the situation, more lashing devices or higher pre-tensioning forces are therefore required. However, by using two ratchets in one lashing system, this effect can be specifically compensated for and the number of required lashing devices reduced.

Conclusion: Greater clarity for complex situations and much closer to real conditions on the road.
