Please observe the following safety instructions:

Fire brigade snap hooks are used for connecting and securing loads or equipment. To ensure safe use, the following instructions should be observed:

1. Intended Application and Suitability

  • Fire brigade snap hooks must only be used for their intended applications.
  • Before use, ensure that the snap hook is suitable for the intended load and specific application.
  • Observe the specified maximum lifting capacity. This must not be exceeded.

2. Before Use

  • Inspect for damage: Check the snap hook for visible defects such as cracks, deformation or corrosion. Damaged snap hooks must not be used.
  • Check operation: Ensure that the gate mechanism operates smoothly and closes completely.
  • Verify compatibility: Check that the snap hook is compatible with the equipment being used.

3. Use

  • Ensure that the snap hook is fully closed before being loaded. An incompletely closed snap hook may create a hazardous situation.
  • Do not subject the snap hook to cross-loading or twisting. Loads should always be applied along the major axis.
  • Do not overload the snap hook. The maximum lifting capacity must never be exceeded.

4. Special Conditions

  • The snap hook must not be used in chemically aggressive environments unless the material is specifically designed for such conditions.
  • Do not use the snap hook for dynamic loads (e.g. fall arrest loads) unless it is expressly certified for such applications.
  • Exercise caution when using the snap hook in extreme temperatures, as these may affect the material properties (e.g. embrittlement of metal at low temperatures).

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Clean the snap hook after each use and store it in a dry environment to prevent corrosion.
  • Inspect the snap hook for safety and functionality at least once a year, or more frequently under intensive use.

6. Storage

  • Store snap hooks in a dry and clean environment, protected from moisture, dirt and direct sunlight.

7. Additional Information

  • Do not modify the snap hook in any way (e.g. drilling, welding or grinding).
  • If there is any uncertainty regarding the suitability or condition of the snap hook, consult the manufacturer or a qualified specialist.
