What tools can I use to calculate load securing requirements?
The correct calculation of load securing requirements is crucial for the safe transportation of goods. Depending on the type and nature of the load, different securing methods are used. Our calculations and specifications are largely based on VDI 2700 Part 2:2014, which describes the relevant formulas for the various securing methods.
To simplify the calculation of the required load securing equipment, you can use the Dolezych Simple Method©. We explain this method for both the tie-down lashing method and the direct lashing method. Various assumptions are made that must be complied with in order to use this method.

What can I use a protractor for in load securing?
- Precise and reliable determination of the vertical angle α for tie-down lashing and, additionally, the horizontal angle β for direct lashing.
- Using the exact angle values, the required number and specification of lashing equipment for load securing can be determined even more accurately.
- Benefit: You may be able to use fewer or lower-rated lashing equipment.
Who is the Trucker's Disc for?
- For anyone responsible for loading and transporting goods on lorries.
- The calculations are based on VDI 2700.
- Double-sided, including a rotating disc.
- One side is dedicated to tie-down lashing: Different pre-tensioning forces and coefficients of friction are used to determine the number of lashings required depending on the load weight and lashing angle α. The required number of lashing devices can be read off easily.
- The second side is for diagonal lashing: Depending on the vertical angle α and horizontal angle β, as well as different coefficients of friction and the load to be secured, the required permissible lashing force of the lashing equipment can be read off.
